Something That Needs to be Said

No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love...For love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.

These words were quoted on Twitter last Saturday, August 12th, by Barack Obama, In response to an attack by a neo-Nazi who drove a car into a crowd of anti-fascist protesters, killing one person and injuring 19.

My heart is heavy today. Those words brought me a little comfort, though. And I hope they bring you comfort, too.

I'm sorry to open this blog on such a sad note. But let's remember what we, as Jews, believe in, and holding those beliefs in our hearts, resolve to act in ways that make this world a better place.

Shalom, y'all.
